The 2017 Maserati Levante Sport Utility 4D represents the inaugural model year of Maserati’s landmark luxury performance crossover. Built on an evolution of Maserati’s rear-wheel-biased architecture shared with the Ghibli sedan, the Levante pairs Ferrari-built twin-turbo V8-derived V6 engines with standard Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive, skyhook adaptive air suspension, and distinct Italian grand touring style.
Under the sculpted aluminum hood, the 2017 Levante features a Ferrari-assembled 3.0-liter Twin-Turbocharged DOHC 24-valve 60-degree V6 engine available in two states of tune:
Standard Levante: Produces 345 horsepower at 5,750 RPM and 369 lb-ft of torque available from 1,750 to 5,000 RPM.
Levante S: Produces 424 horsepower at 5,750 RPM and 428 lb-ft of torque available from 1,750 to 5,000 RPM.
Power across both trims is managed by a rapid-shifting ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with selectable drive modes (Normal, I.C.E. [Increased Control and Efficiency], Sport, and Off-Road) and available column-mounted aluminum paddle shifters. Drive torque is distributed via Maserati’s Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which routes 100% of power to the rear wheels under normal conditions and seamlessly shifts up to 50% to the front axle in under 150 milliseconds when traction wanes. Supported by a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, double-wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension with Skyhook electronically controlled continuous damping, 5-stage adjustable air suspension, mechanical limited-slip rear differential, and Brembo® brakes, the 4,649-lb base Levante accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.8 seconds (with the 424-hp Levante S reaching 0-60 MPH in 5.0 seconds).
On the exterior, the 2017 Levante is distinguished by Maserati’s concave front grille featuring the iconic Trident badge, frameless side door glass, signature triple side air vents on the front fenders, Saetta logo on the C-pillars, Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, power glass sunroof, and quad trapezoidal chrome exhaust tailpipes that emit a resonant, valved exhaust note in Sport mode. The crossover maintains an athletic stance rolling on standard 19-inch Zefiro alloy wheels wrapped in 255/50R19 all-season tires (with 20-inch or 21-inch staggered alloy wheel options widely selected).
Inside, the driver-centric 5-passenger cabin welcomes occupants into a bespoke Italian sanctuary draped in Fine Grain Leather upholstery with real open-pore radica wood, piano black, or carbon-fiber interior trim. Interior appointments include 12-way power adjustable front bucket seats with 2-position driver memory, multi-stage heated front seats, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, dynamic ambient lighting, keyless entry with push-button start, auto-dimming mirrors, power-adjustable foot pedals, and an iconic analog Maserati clock mounted atop the center dashboard. Digital connectivity centers around the Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) 8.4-inch central display with a rotary center console controller, featuring Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, SD card reader, USB ports, auxiliary input, Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, and a standard 8-speaker audio system (or available 14-speaker 900-watt Harman Kardon® Premium Sound System or 17-speaker 1,280-watt Bowers & Wilkins® Ultra-Premium Audio System).
